Wat Phra Singh Chiang Mai

Through this website we would like to introduce you to our parent temple – Wat Phra Singh Chiang Mai.

This 700 year old temple is located within the walls of old Chiang Mai city, and is one of the most venerated temples in Northern Thailand. It is home to the famous Phra Sihing statue located in the Viharn Lai Kham.  The stunning central Chedi has recently been clad in gold plated copper and is quite stunning.  The largest hall at the temple is the Viharn Luang housing the large central Buddha image as well as cast images of previous Abbots. When we were last inside there was a large wall hanging showing a Google Earth map of Runcorn with a hand pointing to Wat Phra Singh UK 😊

The temple also houses the Ubosot hall where ordinations take place, the Haw Trai library, a large school, and numerous other buildings for functions, administration and monks’ accommodation. If you are ever in Chiang Mai please call in and say hello to the monks.
